Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal VR (702 SERGT. H. SEALY. 61ST: FOOT.)
Henry Sealy was born in Enmore, Bridgwater, Somerset in 1843. He enlisted for service in the 61st Foot (2nd Bn Gloucestershire Regiment) at Devonport on 23 November 1860 and served for 21 years, earning the Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. Promoted to Sergeant in 1881, he weas also discharged in that year.
Despite his long service which took him to Canada and Bermuda (1866) and to Malta and India 1880/1881) the bulk of his service was at home and he never earned any campaign medals.
According to the 1911 census he was a Farm Labourer living at New Barn Farm in Crawley, Winchester with his wife and niece.
Medal is in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research including copy service papers.
