Ribbon bar on a metal carriage to allow it to slide onto stacking ribbon bars. A central slot allows the addition of emblems without having the need to purchase a new ribbon.
Instituted 1908. Awarded for 15 years commissioned service, with active wartime service counting double.
Bars were introduced in 1957 to be awarded for each further 10 years service, but active wartime service did not count double for the qualification.
The original ribbon for the award was plain green, this was replaced in 1941 with white edged green ribbon.
