Egypt Medal clasp Alexandria 11th July (H. WILLIAMS. GR. R.M.A. H.M.S. "ALEXANDRA"); Khedive's Star dated 1882 - unnamed as awarded.

Henry Williams was born in Wells, Somerset on 2 April 1859. He joined the Royal Navy at Gloucester on 2 April 1877 and was initially a Private with D Copmpany. He was a Gunner with 15 Company from 18 October 1877 and was aboard HMS Alexandra from 1 July 1880 until 31 January 1883, during which time he took part in the operation at Alexandria in Egypt on 11 July 1882. From 1 January 1885 he was a Gunner with his old D Company.

The operation at Alexandria on 11 July 1882 was part of the British military intervention in Egypt during the Anglo-Egyptian War. The Royal Marines served alongside the Royal Navy during the bombardment of Alexandria, when British warships attacked Egyptian coastal forts. Following the bombardment, Royal Marines took part in landing operations to secure strategic positions and help establish British control of the city. Their service was part of the wider British campaign in Egypt against the forces of Ahmed Urabi.

Williams received his medal and clasp on 27 April 1883 and was discharged from the Royal Marine Artillery on 13 April 1898.
