Father: Constabulary Long Service Medal GVIR (ALBERT L. ASHTON) - Albert Lees Ashton was a Solicitor born in Southport, Lancashire in 1893. He served in WWI as a Lieutenant with the Army Cyclist Corps and the Kings Liverpool Regiment in France from February 1916 - earning the British War Medal and Victory Medal which are not included. According to the 1939 Register he was a Solicitor and Deputy County Coroner living at 11 Cambridge Road, Southport, Lancs. He was also a volunteer at the ARP Control Centre. He died in Southport in 1974. A corresponding group of miniature medals is included.

Accompanied by a letter dated 23 November 1981 from the Logistic Executive (Army) addressed to John Ashton Esq TD, 16 Mountain View, Ballaugh, Isle of Man - listing the above medals and advising in which order they should be worn.
John Hampson Ashton was born in Southport, Lancashire in 1919. Like his father he was a Solicitor by profession. He served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps with no. T/3985. He was discharged in April 1946. His medals are confirmed on his CS20 WWII Medal Card - they were posted to him on 14 January 1949 to 11 Cambridge Road, Southport, Lancs. According to the 1939 Register he was living with his parents and was an Articled Clerk (Solicitor). He was also a 2/Lt with the 55th Division, RASC. He passed away on the Isle of Man in 2002.
