Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal GVR (4224 PTE. G. SAUNDERS. GLOUC: REGT)

George Saunders attested for service with the 4th battalion (Militia) of the Gloucestershire Regiment on 27 November 1893. Despite extensive service in Malta (1894/95), Egypt (1896/1897) and India (1897/1906) the only medal he qualified for and was awarded is the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1912.

His conduct on discharge on 22 November 1915 (termination of period of engagement) was noted as Exemplary and his home address provided as 43 Gloucester Road, Eastville, Bristol. He served a total of 22 years with the Colours. He was awarded a Silver War Badge, no. 82565 in 1916 - this is not included. 

Saunders died in 1927
