Brian Edward Corfield was born in 1994 and served with "A" Company - the Norfolk Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment. For a few months, until his 18th birthday, he was the youngest soldier serving in Afghanistan at the time he was deployed there in March 2012.
The 1st Battalion and elements of 3rd Battalion were again deployed to Afghanistan as part of 12th Mechanised Brigade as part of Operation Herrick 16 in the closing stages of the conflict. 12 Mechanized Brigade took command of Task Force Helmand in Afghanistan and were in theatre for six months.
Corfield and his comrades would be dropped out of Osprey's or Chinnook's and were tasked with interrogating the locals for information, taking of finger prints etc.
