British War Medal (42911 PTE. H.E. DENNING. R.LANC.R.); Victory Medal (42911 PTE. H.E. DENNING. R.LANC.R.);

Henry Edward Denning was born in Newport, Monmouthshire on 10 June 1899 and served with the 1/5th Battalion of the Royal Lancashire Regiment in WWI.

He later joined the Merchant Navy, serving with them as a Ship's Steward. MN records before 1918 were destroyed making it difficult to plot his later career but his MN service card shows that he was employed with no. 845131 and records his movements (ships) from 3 March 1919 until 5 February 1921.

Denning then enlisted with the Royal Navy at Devonport with no. SS11172 on 11 August 1921. He was allowed to credit 1 year and 262 days army service towards his pension and appears to have left their ranks on reduction of the establishment on 17 July 1922.

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold together with copied research. A medal ribbon strip which includes Mercantile Marine Medal is included but there is no evidence to suggest that Denning was awarded this medal. His WWI pair is mounted for wear.
