Alfred Edward Geater was born in 1889 and lived in Clapham, London. A Bricklayer by trade, he attested with the Royal Engineers for service in WWI on 14 February 1916 and was mobilised on 30 March of that year, proceeding to France with the 153rd Field Company on 9 November 1916. He served on the Western Front until being returned to England on 7 June 1917.

A Medical Report showed that he suffered with Deadness and was sent to hospital with boils and abcesses at which time he claimed his hearing had become bad. It was determined that he was very deaf and he was awarded a pension and a Silver War Badge no. B177800. He was discharged on 18 February 1919.

According to the 1939 Register, Geater was a Bricklayer at His Majesty's Dockyard. He lived at 92 Clearmount Road, Melcomb Regis, part of Weymouth.

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research. The Silver War Badge No. B177800 is not included.
