Harry Edward Avery was born in Pitchcombe, Gloucestershire on 29 January 1892. Having enlisted with the Army Service Corps for service in WWI he was posted to France on 31 May 1915 as a Corporal with the Gloucestershire & Worcestershire Brigade Company of the ASC (TF). He was later assigned no. 25286, remaining with the ASC. He was discharged to the Reserve on 3 July 1919.
According to the 1939 Register he was a House Decorator living at Levers Hall Farm in Stroud. He was a also a Special Constable with "D" Division.
Avery saw service in Italy in WWII. He passed away at Whiteshill, Gloucestershire in February 1969
