Joseph Humble was born in Newcastle in 1870. He attested for service in WWI as a Pioneer with 331 Road Construction Company, Royal Engineers, on 29 May 1917 and was posted to France on 1 June 1917. He suffered with a ruptured Hernia which had been aggravated by war service and was discharged on the grounds of ill health on his return to England on 13 October 1917.
Humble was awarded the Silver War Badge No. 317937.
