William Forrest Jackson was born in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire on 11 March 1887. He enlisted for service with 303 Road Construction Coy., Royal Engineers on 24 June 1916 and was mobilised, embarking for France on 12 September 1917.
He sustained severe damage to his left wrist. In a Report on Accidental Injuries he stated that,
"On the 29th November 1918 I was proceeding on duty by motor cycle from Lillers to La Willy in Beuvry. I had a side slip resulting in a sparined wrist. I received medical attention on the 30th and my wrist improved.
On the 11th december 1918 I was proceeding on duty by motor cycle at Harbourdin when I was run into by a motor ambulance resulting in further injury to wrist."
This led to a 30% pension being awarded to Jackson. He passed away from Aterio Sclerosis/Coronary Thrombosis at Stonehouse in Lanarkshire on 28 February 1959 at the age of 71.
