Thomas Walker was born in Wymeswold, Leicestershire on 9 April 1888. A Carman by occupation, he enlisted for service in WWI at the age of 29 on 24 June 1916 and was mobilised for service on 13 December 1917 - heading to France as a Driver with 39 Signal Company of the Royal Engineers on 4 May 1918.
His Conduct Sheet records that he was charged with "Unsteadiness in the Ranks" at Bedford in November 1918. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 21 April 1919 and was demobilised and discharged on 31 March 1920.
Walker died on 21 December 1928 from Carbonic Acid poisoning from exhaust gas - he was apparently overcome by exhaust fumes from his car whilst the garage door was accidentally shut.
