John Goodwyn Jefferson was born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire in 1881. He enlisted for service with the Army Service Corps in WWI in October 1915 and later transferred to the Royal Defence Corps. A Fireman, he was awarded the National Fire Brigade Long Service Medal on 4 March 1932.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Chauffer/Mechanic living at 28 Mildenhall Drive, Hastings. He passed away in Hastings in March 1950.
