Thomas James Beech was born in Tottenham, London on 5 June 1880. He attested for service with the 2nd Royal Berkshire Regiment on 31 March 1897 and saw service with them in South Africa during the Anglo Boer War until being repatriated to England on 29 October 1902. A short spell of service in Egypt followed before he was discharged to the Reserve on 30 March 1909.
Beech returned to the colours for service in WWI and was assigned no. 36587 with the 3rd Bedfords Regiment. He was later transferred to the 13th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment and, finally, to the 2nd Devons until his discharged to the Reserve on 22 May 1919.
According to the 1939 Register, he was living at 98 Silver Street, Edmonton and was a Builder's Handyman by occupation. He died in Edmonton in 1952.
The medals are in good condition unless otherwise specified. Please note that the suspension on the Kings South Africa Medal was damaged and had been broken at the foot, attempts had been made to remove the foot of the suspension, hence the marks on the foot and the medal. The original suspension has been reattached.
