Benjamin Nind was born in Worcester in 1884. He almost drowned when, as a small boy, he fell into the River Severn in 1891 and had to be rescued.
Having enlisted with the 2nd Battalion, Shropshire Light Infantry, he saw service in the Anglo Boer War. With the outbreak of WWI he went to France with his regiment on 21 December 1914. He was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1919.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Labourer with a Timber Merchant living at Crowe Works in Wellington.
He died in Shrewsbury in 1948.
