Crimea Medal (1118 J FLINT LCRS) - privately named, not skimmed or renamed.

James Flint was born in Coventry, Warwickshire in 1837. A Watchmaker by trade, he attested for service with the 4th Dragoons on 23 March 1855 and saw just over a year's service with them before transferring to the Military Train, with whom he was to spend the next five years before moving to the 16th Lancers on 1 June 1862.

His transfer to the 17th Lancers only took place on 22 July 1868, the date he re-engaged at Canterbury in order to complete 21 years service. He served 11 months in the Crimea and Turkey and 1 year 10 months in the East Indies - the remainder of his service being at Home.

He was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct medal with a £5 Annuity on 28 May 1874. He took his discharge at Dublin on 29 March 1876 with a destination address of 41 West Torchard, Canterbury.

Flint was awarded the Crimea Medal, Turkish Crimea Medal and the LSGCM Medal these last two are not with the medal.

According to the 1901 census Flint was living in Staines, Middlesex where he was employed as an Armourer/Rifle Range worker. He passed away whilst living in Rifle Range Cottages, Staines in May 1906.

Medal is in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research including his service papers. There is some confusion around his service number - some records indicate 418 whilst others indicate 1118.
