8278 Gnr Arthur Owen Toone RGA Born 7.4.1878 Leamington, Warwick Enlisted 14/Huss 19.6.1894 trans West Div RA12.2.1895 Served Boer War & China 1900 and as a Special Constable during WWI. Toone would have seen plenty of action in the early battles of the Boer war as Methuen worked his way up to try and relieve Kimberley in late 1899/early 1900, before being posted to China with the artillery.
According to the 1921 census he was a Gardener employed by Mrs Adams of "Tanglin", Bexley Road, Eltham. He lived at 14 Ladysmith Road, SE9
He died in London on 31 December 1959
