Albert Harrison was born in Frimley, Aldershot on 9 March 1880. A Gardener, he attested for service with the 17th Lancers on 8 January 1900 and was mustered as a Bandsman (Musician). He saw service in South Africa during the Anglo Boer War from 18 December 1900 to 19 October 1902. His service was insufficient to qualify him for the Kings South Africa medal. He was still serving at the time the Great war commenced, disembarking at Havre on 15 August 1914.
He transferred to the Army Veterinary Corps in the field on 24 April 1915 and by 31 October 1916 had risen to the rank of Acting Sergeant. Having survived the war he was transferred to the Reserve on 20 April 1919 at which point his address was 7 Alexandra Avenue, Frimley Road, Camberley.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Chauffeur by occupation living at Wharf Road in Frimley. He was also a Special Constable. It was most probably in this capacity that he earned the Defence Medal.
He died in Frimley in 1964.
