Sidney Booth was born in Warrington, Lancashire in 1897. He received part of his schooling at the Tiber Street Council School. Booth served with the Bury-based 1/5th Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers in France in WWI and was reported Wounded in Action on 31 May 1918. In that month, the 1/5th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers were serving as part of the 125th Infantry Brigade, 42nd (East Lancashire) Division. Following severe fighting during the German Spring Offensives, the battalion spent the month holding and consolidating defensive lines and undergoing crucial training in the rear areas.
He succumbed from his wounds on 5 September 1918 and is remembered with honour in the Varennes Military Cemetery. His mother and next-of-kin was living at 25 Maple Grove, Liverpool.
Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold together with copied research and a Lancashire Fusiliers cap badge.
