Arthur Mark Drury was born in Eckington, Derbyshire on 16 October 1879. A Miner by occupation, he completed attestation papers for service with the Royal Field Artillery on 7 January 1915 and was posted to 83rd Brigade. He was sent over to France on 26 July 1915 and spent the next 339 days there before being repatriated to England on 29 June 1916. He was discharged "not having suffered impairment since entry into the service" on 14 December 1918.
According to the 1939 Register Drury was living at 35 Markham Cottages, Staveley and was a Colliery Shunter by occupation.
He died in Spilsbury, Lincolnshire in 1953.
