William Charles Gasser was born in St George in the East, London on 2 February 1886. He joined the Royal Navy on 2 February 1904 and served WWI mainly in Pembroke and Vivid, before transferring to the Royal Fleet Reserve in 1919. He was demobiilised on 4 June 1921. He had joined the Post Office as a Postman the previous month, on 3 May 1921.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Postman living at 27 Leyspring Road, Leyton.
He was awarded the Imperial Service Medal in the London Gazette of 17 March 1950. He passed away on 3 September 1960 at Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, London.
