Joseph Fulwell was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, on 14 December 1897. At the time of the 1911 census he was living at 5 Whitby Place. St Andrews Road, Small Heath, Birmingham with his large family. This is the same address used on his WWI medal index card.
Fulwell served in India with the 89/16 Bde of the Royal Field Artillery and saw further action on the North West Frontier in 1919. This is his full medal entitlement.
Having married in 1920, he was a widower two years later but remarried in 1925, two years prior to his own death in June 1927.
