Arthur Bell was born in London in 1891. He served WWI in France with 11 London Regt (5.2.1917 - 29.1.1918) & 20th (County of London) Battalion (Blackheath & Woolwich) from 30.1.1918 - 24.3.1918. Taken POW on 24 March 1918 and interned in Germany, he was released at the end of the war.
According to the 1939 Register he was living at 47 Aytoun Road, Stockwell (the same address his son's medal was sent to) where he was a Despatch Clerk.
