Thomas Henry Maughan Barnett was born in Brentford,  Middlesex on 21 July 1886. He served with the Royal Engineers from 3 February 1917 in Salonika in WWI and returned to the Army for service in WWII where he was attached to the 53rd Reinforcement Holding Unit. A unit dedicated to holding Surplus personnel, some awaiting a return to duty after illness or injury or soldiers out of training awaiting posting.

He fell Dangerously Ill in 1946 whilst a Substantive Major in France and Flanders and was hospitalised for a spell before being discharged on the grounds of ill health on 27 September 1946. For his services during the Second World War he was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 20 December 1940 - where his name is recorded as ‘T. H. M. Burnett'

According to the 1939 Register he was a Chartered Civil Engineer living at 37 Oakley Street, Chelsea.

His medals were posted to him on 10 July 1948 to Lt Col. T.H.M. Barnett, The Vicarage, Cumnor, Oxford. He passed away in Hastings, Sussex in 1964.

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
