John Thomson Mitchell was born in Crail, Fife on 23 May 1893. He enlisted for service with the Army Service Corps as a Driver/Mechanic and was posted to 403 Mechanised Transport (MT) Coy.
He was called up for service on 25 April 1917 and was posted to France on 22 May 1917. He served there until being repatriated to England on 19 February 1919 whereafter he was discharged to the Reserve.
Mitchell passed away at the age of 45 from a Coronary Thrombosis at Garage House, St Andrews, Fife on 13 March 1939
