British War Medal (34463 PTE. R. STEPHENS, R.A.M.C.); Victory Medal (34463 PTE. R. STEPHENS. R.A.M.C.)

Randolph Stephens was born in Halesowen in 1887. He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in WWI and was posted to Egypt on 4 June 1915. Unsurprisingly given the water they were required to drink, he was hospitalised with Enteritis on 22 March 1916 in the very hospital in which he worked - 19 General Hospital.

He was Mentioned in Dispatches in General E.H.H. Allenby's dispatch: "has the honour to forward herewith a list of names whom he considers worthy of mention for their services during the period from the 19th September, 1918, to the 31st January, 1919." - This was for his services in 19 General Hospital.

According to the 1939 Register he was the Deputy Head Male Nurse at the Barnsley Hall Mental Hospital in Bromsgrove.

He passed away on 29 June 1975 at Droitwich
