George John Parsons was born on 27 June 1894 and served with the 2nd Monmouthshire Regiment in WWI

The 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment, served on the Western Front during WWI, fighting initially as infantry before becoming a pioneer battalion for the 29th Division in May 1916. The battalion was the first Territorial unit to go to France in November 1914 and was the last to return in 1919. Its major actions included being involved in the Second Battle of Ypres, the Battles of the Somme, the Arras Offensive, and the Cambrai.

Parsons was Wounded in Action, probably during the German Spring Offensive, on 22 June 1918. Post-war he became a very active member of the St John Ambulance and was , according to the 1939 Register, living at 120 Coventry Road, Bedford. He was a First Aid Attendant at Malleable Iron Foundry and Engineers and was a Corps Officer with the St John Ambulance Brigade. He was honoured for his service with the Serving Brother award in the London Gazette of 3 January 1941.

Parsons died while resident at 5 Oldfield Road, Bedford on 21 February 1956.
