Benjamin Morgan was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire in 1894. He served first with the 1st Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in WWI with no. 12790 and was with the British Expeditionary Force in France from 22 July 1915 until 26 July 1917. He transferred to the Royal Flying Corps on 17 January 1918 serving with them until being placed on the Reserve on 18 April 1919.
He returned to serve with the Royal Army Service Corps in WWII and saw service in France & Germany, rising to the rank of WO 1st Class. His medals were posted to him on 15 November 1948 to 52 Mansion Crescent, Smethwick 41, Staffs.
He was awarded the Efficiency Medal with the RASC on 1 March 1950.
Morgan claimed to have played football with the Germans across No Mans Land in the famous Christmas Day event of 1915. He also claimed to have had tea behind German lines in WWII.
He passed away in Solihull in 1979
