Alec Charles Russell was born in Bristol on 17 April 1925. A Tobacco Worker by occupation, he enlisted with the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders at Bristol on 27 January 1943 and saw service in France and Germany where he was Wounded in Action on 18 November 1944.
On that day, the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, were in the Netherlands, holding defensive positions west of the River Maas at Rooth (near the village of Blerick). They were engaged in static defence and patrol activity at this time when Russell and 21 of his comrades were wounded.
He died in 2014
