WO II Joseph Colin McArthur was born in 1911. He attested for service with the South African Air Force on 5 May 1942 and served as an Air Mechanic in North Africa/Middle East with effect from 1 January 1942. He was discharged on 11 March 1945. Next of kin was his mother of 60 Buchanan Street, Coat Bridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
A 1948 Ships Manifest has him as a 27 year old Clerk by occupation, resident in South Africa and visiting at 12 Hume Street, Townhead, Glasgow.
