1939-45 Star; Africa Star clasp 8TH Army; Burma Star; Defence Medal; War Medal 1939-45; Efficiency Medal GVIR bar Territorial (2025459 SPR. G.H. CLAWSON. R.E.)
George Herbert Clawson is a bit of a mystery man. Possibly because of the German nature of his surname, he changed this from Clauson to Clawson and served with the Royal Engineers in North Africa and elsewhere as a Sapper. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1944 and earned the 8th Army clasp normally awarded to those in the Battle of El Alamein in October 1942.
He passed away in Hampshire in 2006 - having reclaimed the Clausen surname.
Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. NB The CS20 Medal WWII Index Card shows the award of the France & Germany Star - not the Burma Star. Clausen's medals appear to have been issued to him in 1983.
