Ernest Taylor was born in Marylebone, London in 1893. He served with the 1st Bedfordshire Regt and was posted to France on 11.3.1915. He was Killed in Action in the 2nd Battle of Ypres on 18.5.1915.

The 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment was heavily engaged in the Second Battle of Ypres, specifically at Hill 60 in Flanders on 18 April 1915. They suffered significant casualties and were part of the 15th Brigade, 5th Division - in the front line trenches east of Hill 60.
