Alfred George Kingston was born in Guildford, Surrey in 1898. He was awarded the prestigious British Fire Associations Meritorious Service Medal.

The B.F.S.A. (British Fire Services Association) Meritorious Service Medal is awarded to members of the British Fire Service Association for outstanding service and gallantry in fire-fighting operations. It can also be awarded for long and meritorious service to the association.

According to the 1921 census he was a Watch and Clock Repairer working Mr Ravenscroft, a Jeweller at Cranleigh.

According to the 1939 Register he was a Printer's Warehouseman and a Third Officer with the Guildford Fire Brigade living at 25 Deer Barn Road, Guildford.

He died in Guildford in 1963.
