Alban John Barnes born Nuneaton, Warwickshire on31.3.1890. He enlisted with the Royal Navy in 1909 and, having commenced service as a Stoker, had risen to Stoker Petty Officer by the end of 1918. The bulk of his war service was aboard Antrim (from 1914 to 1917). His last service date was 11 March 1921. According to the 1939 Register, he was a Boiler-Man (Heavy Worker) living in Hebburn, Durham. He is entitled to the 1914/15 Star which is not with the group. He passed away in Gateshead, Durham in 1967.
