Francis James Johnson was born in Buxton, Derbyshire in 1907. He served with the Heavy Anti Aircraft, Royal Artillery and was at one time attached to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (UK) Reception Group. A long serving member, he was awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1944 and three subsequent bars - the first in 1953 and the second and third clasps in 1954.
According to the 1939 Register, his wife, Violet, was living at 10 Dakin Avenue, Fairfield, Buxton - the same address to which Johnson's medals were posted on 30 July 1948.
He received the 1953 Coronation Medal as a Battery Quartermaster Sergeant with the RA.
He died in Bristol in 1977.
