73318 Bombardier Ernest Frederick Smallbone was born in Bath, Somerset on 26.7.1896. He enlisted with the Royal Field Artillery (281 London Brigade) on 13.6.1913 and entered France 19.8.1914. He was Wounded in Action on 5.10.1917. He was awarded Silver War Badge no. 412209 (Sickness - Inflammation of the Larynx)) on 15.6.1918 and was discharged on 24.6.1918 - address 6 Vernon Park, Tiverton, Bath.
According to the 1939 Register, he was living at The New Inn, Snow Hill, Bath where he was a Licenced Victualler. He passed away in Bath on 9.9.1964
He was also awarded the 1914 Star which, along with the S.W.B., is not with this lot.
