Herbert Simpson was born in Belper, Derbyshire on 5 September 1917. According to the 1939 Register he was a Ventilator Maker at a Brickworks living at 16 Danesby Rise near Kilburn with his parents. He enlisted at Derby on 25 April 1940 and was a Sapper before becoming a Pioneer on 12 July 1943. He was mustered as a Stevedore with effect from 24 December 1943.
He died in Belper in 1992.
Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research including several letters from 1917 iro his uncle who was Killed in Action in WWI.
