Frank Edward Field Cuerden was born in Peshawar, India in 1906. He had a military pedigree with both his father and grandfather having served in the Indian Army. Having been commissioned in 1926 he was, by 1935, an Instructor, Class C. with the 6th Rajputana Rifles attached to the School of Weapon Training and Mechanization, Small Arms School, Pachmarhi. There was time for romance as well - his nuptials in July 1935 appearing in The Tatler magazine.
He was evacuated from Jersey in 1940 before the occupation by Nazi forces. He was to go on to command the 6th Rajputana Rifles in Burma during WWII and was Mentioned in Dispatches in the LG of 30 December 1941. He served in South East Asia after the war and was released from service on 20 August 1947
He passed away on Jersey in September 1984
