George Robert Shields Green Howards served with the Green Howards on the North West Frontier 1937-39 and in WWII Medals. There was some controversy around the awarding of the 1939-45 Star and Italy Star - they are mounted with the group but the CS20 (accompanying copy) contains a comment that these medals were forfeited by Shields, leaving him with only the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. These medals were sent to him (address redacted) on 23 April 1979. Page 2 of the CS20 appears to contradict the previous comment with a note stating that, " Restriction not approved... not having been forfeited."
