James Henry Whitaker was born in Chipping Norton in 1913 According to the 1939 Register he was a Farmer living at Pudlicote. He served with the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry in WW2 and was Gazetted a Second Lieutenant on 13 November 1940 - as a graduate from 151 Officer Cadet Unit, Sandhurst.
The KSLI did not serve in Burma as a battalion. In order to have earned the Burma Star, Whitaker must have been seconded to another unit.
His medals were posted to him on 11 January 1949. He passed away at Hathaway House, Cold Aston near Cheltenham in 1987.
The medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
