Douglas Arthur James Coates was born in Godstone Surrey in 1916 He was commissioned as a Flight Officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve on 15 October 1943. He was transferred to the Admin and Special Duties Branch RAFVR on 9 October 1944 and was awarded the Air Efficiency Medal.
A Bank Manger in later life, he died at Southampton 3 September 1994
