Harold George Alfred Foard was born in Lewisham, London on 5.10.1908 He attested for service with the Royal Engineers on 8.10.1926 when 18 years old. Mustered as a Pioneer (Clerk), he rose slowly through the ranks and was Embarkation Officer at Liverpool in early 1940 when a Warrant Officer II Class. He served in the Middle East from 9.9.1940 but his WWII medal card does not show any entitlement to the Africa Star. He disembarked in Egypt on 22.10.1940 and was posted to Chief Engineer Palestine.
On 27.10.1940 he was attached to the GHQ 2nd Echelon and the CRE Haifa-Baghdad Road. He was M.I.D. on 20.12.1940. He was promoted from Lieutenant (Quartermaster) to Captain on 1.9.1943. He died in Surrey in November 1985.
Also awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal on 11.2.1948 which is not with the group.
