3712609 Pte Arthur Allan Goff 5th Bn Kings Own Royal Regt Born Lancaster 1.9.1920 He was taken POW at Dunkirk on 16.9.1940 and held at Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf and other camps before being released in 1945.
The territorial 5th Battalion and 56th Anti-Tank Regiment (the old 4th Battalion) went across to France and Belgium in 1940, along with the newly raised 6th Battalion, 7th Battalion, 8th Battalion and 9th Battalion. All were involved in the actions in May 1940 and most were successfully evacuated through Dunkirk. Goff was one of the unlucky ones.
Lived in Bowerham Terrace, Lancaster after the war.
He passed away in Lancashire in 1979
