Riley served in the Burma Campaign of 1930-32 - essentially a rebellion, also known as the Hsaya Rebellion or the Saya San Rebellion, which was led by a former monk named U Saya San who claimed to be the heir to the Burmese monarchy. The rebellion began in December 1930 and continued into 1932.
