According to the 1939 Register he was a Solicitor's Clerk living at 98 St George's Square, Westminster. At a later stage he changed occupation and moved to Brighton. His medals were sent to him at 81 Princes Crescent, Brighton on 4 October 1949
Tragedy struck the Coomber family in 1961 when son, 19 year old Peter, weas found hanged in his bedroom in Princes Crescent Brighton. This was after he had, allegedly, read how to hand oneself in a book by CS Forrester.
He was awarded the imperial Service Medal in the London Gazette of 2 April 1973 for his service as a Driver in the Motor Transport Division of the Ministry of Defence (Chargehand)
Died at Brighton on 20 October 1978
