 M.I.D. London Gazette 29 November 1945:

‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Italy.’

The original Recommendation states: ‘During the recent period on the east bank of the Senio, Sergeant Lynch has acted both as Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander. In either capacity, he has been outstanding as an example to his men, whether it be at hurling grenades, or firing the 2 inch mortar and the PIAT, from which the latter his Platoon fired 300 bombs during one night. His enthusiasm at tormenting the enemy had a great effect on the morale of his men.’
