Thomas Richard Ledger served with the 1st European Bengal Fusiliers. He was born in Darton, Yorkshire in 1834, attesting for service in 1856. He suffered a "Rupture" moving a cannon into position before the battle of Alum Bagh in 1857 and, after a medical board was convened, was declared Medically Unfit for the Army. As a result of this debility he was finally discharged in 1870 and died in Lancashire in 1896.
