British War Medal (J.55093 E. THURGILL. A.B. R.N.)
Eli Thurgill was born in Durham in 1893. He attested for service with the 5th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry in 1910 and went to war with them in France from 17 April 1915 until taking his discharge on 10 March 1916 by which time he was a Sergeant. He then joined the Royal Navy on 29 June 1916 remained with them until the cessation of hostilities being discharged on 3 March 1919.
According to the 1921 census he was a Water Meter Repairer employed by the Thames Valley Water Board.
He died in Durham in 1938.
Medal is in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with research. Please note that Thurgill was also awarded the Victory Medal to the RN which is not included; along with a 1914-15 Star trio to the Durham LI which is also not included.
