Gordon Smith was born in Lamphey, Pembrokeshire in 1897. He was from Haverfordwest when he served with the 12th (Bristol) Battalion of the Gloucester Regiment at Gallipoli. He was listed as Wounded in Action on 2 September 1915 and had been posted to France when he was Killed in Action on 8 May 1917.
His next of kin was his mother, Amelia Smith of Ivy Cottage, Hodgeston, Lamphey. His father had been Squadron Sergeant Major with the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry.
