John Williams. Chief Superintendent and deputy Chief Constable Glamorgan Constabulary. Born Kidwelly in 1862. Joined Glamorgan Constabulary in 1883. Was in charge of police contingent at Newport Dock Strike in 1910. He was awarded the Kings Police Medal in 1922.
From the Police Chronicle July 11th, 1913 - "In March 1900 he was given charge of the Ton Pentre Station where he had to deal with no fewer than seven cases of murder and was the means, after very clever detective work, of bringing Eric Lange to justice for slaying Mr Jones, the Landlord of the Bridgend Hotel. He will also be remembered for the prominent part he took in the suppression of disorder during the Cambrian strike. He is an extremely popular officer."
